I had no idea that there were different types of car keys. I really didn’t know that my car had a higher level of security known as a coded engine immobilizer system and used a “transponder key.” Furthermore, I learned that these keys need to be programmed by a locksmith technician with the right equipment. Without the key being programmed my car’s “brain” won’t recognize the key and will not start the car. I also learned that previously, I might have HAD to go to the auto dealer, which is always expensive and time-consuming.
